Craig G North Port , FL August 04, 2015 Appliance: Model MAYTAG NEPTUNE DRYER MODEL MDE6800AYW Nothing on the control panel of the dryer would respond after running one cycle unless it was unplugged for about a half hour then plugged back in again after that the same issue would return After a local (supposedly reputable) local appliance repairman gave up and suggested replacing the entire dryer, I traced all of the control panel buttons out with an ohm meter myself and found that they were all making/breaking properly. Even so, there must have been some sort of short in the panel, as replacing it completely fixed the issue. This was suggested by Jake over at applianceblog.com and I thank him so much for all of his help, which saved me easily hundreds of dollars! His expert advice allowed me to fix this issue myself in about 10 minutes, and he also pointed me here for the replacement part which allowed me to do so. Dixie E Woodbridge , VA April 06, 2016 Appliance console would turn on without notice and/or make "chirping noises" buttons became hard to turn on I initially pealed back the console/control panel clear cover so I could reset the underlying buttons. I believe over time the appliance see-thru cover shrinks and begins to put pressure on the buttons. This helped for a month or two but eventually the symptoms came back so I ordered a new console/control panel. This was a simple replace and reconnect of one wiring connector and only took a few minutes. This fixed the problem. Appliance is as good as new. Read More... Initially he misdiagnosed problem, installed a new computer module. When that did not rectify problem he advised the console/membrane was the problem. Given the quoted cost of the needed part in addition to cost of additional labor to install it, considered just buying a new dryer... Repairman suggested I check internet for part needed. I did and was able to make repair myself!
