How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023299 / WPW10594329 Damper Control Assembly

Ordered new part that came in 2 days. Watched video on how to replace it, which was very helpful. 

Every time the refrigerator started its cooling cycle, a clicking noise from the controller was noted. Replacing the controller was very easy and it solved the problem. 

Entered Model Number and scrolled through list of issues and found the one that closely matched the problem - the damper was continuously operating and made a grinding noise. Went to the parts diagram found the part and confirmed that it would work with my KitchenAid refrigerator and then viewed the video on how to remove and replace. The posted video was not specific for KitchenAid but gave sufficient information on how to access, remove and replace the part. Placed the order online and upon receipt did the swap in less than 20 minutes and all is working perfectly. HINT: Using a headband flashlight and magnetizing the two cover screws made reassembly very easy. 

Found noise coming from damper control motor. Checked Appliance Parts Pros video describing the noise, ordered the new control motor, installed in less than 20 mins. Hardest part was being careful, when bending small plastic tabs to avoid breaking the tabs, with flat screwdriver to access the vent cover and motor. All in all a easy job. 

Replaced damper control. Replacement was easy after watching the process in an Appliancepartspros how-to video. It took just a few minutes to pry off the vent cover, and remove the following items: the two screws holding the panel in front of the damper control, the panel itself, and finally the damper control assembly. After unplugging the damper control, reverse the process to reassemble it. Damper now operates quietly. 

My Kitchenaid Refrigerator was making a load noise when cooling. I thought it was because it was American made and I was right. Whirlpool dampener control box was garbage and instead of letting existing customers with this refrigerator know Kitchen Aid just let's you live with the noise. Replacement took 10 mins and now my refrigerator is silent. Definitely only buying LG next time. 

We have two panels ready 3-door Kitchenaid refrigerators and both have had bad damper valves. One I saw how easy it was for a repairman to replace the first one I decided to order the part and replace it myself the next time the damper decided to act like a squirrel cage. Pull the small cover, unscrew two screws, pull the damper valve, unplug the old one, and replug the new one and reverse the process. Job is done! 

Replaced damper control. Noticed it was stuck in the closed position. Ordered part and it came faster than expected. It took no longer than 10 minutes to replace. The problem appears to be corrected. Will continue to monitor. 

Could hear the noise and feel the chatter in the center vent in the KitchenAid french door refrigerator, looked online and finally found out it was the damper control (it took a while to find out) and then ordered the part. The replacement literally took one minute. Pop-out the center plate (the small one) which reveals two Philips screws, remove those and take out the rest of the cover (including foam insert behind), snap out and unplug the old damper unit and replace with new and re-assemble. Don't forget to turn off the power to the refrigerator first!! 

Replaced the part. It fit exactly, just snapped into place and took less than 15 minutes
