How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005964 / WP2180224 Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Guide

We replaced all related parts with the Ice Door Kit.

I researched the repair for this part. It was quite simple however the replacement part was very tight to snap into place. I could not clip the bottom tab into the ice lever without breaking it.

I replaced the Ice Dispenser Guide.

Replace with Ice Door Kit and Dispenser Guide.

I found AppliancePartsPro.coms on YouTube. After watching several of Matt's videos pertaining to my refrigerator's issues, I went to their website and ordered parts. Matt's videos are dead-on precise and helped me change out the bad parts (water dispenser bracket, ice door and chute) without breaking anything else. I appreciate the small tips he includes like where to pry to remove a part. AppliancePartsPros.com is my new go-to for appliance repair.

Over the years, multiple things have broken on my refrigerator and I have either used my friend, duct tape or just dealt with the missing part. The broken shelf was the last straw sending me on a search for a replacement. Had it known it was so easy to replace the broken parts, I would have done it years ago! I now have a new shelf, door bin, and ice chute yay! I no longer have ice shooting everywhere but my glass!!) and water filter cap. Parts arrived in 48 short hours! I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience!

Ordered the part (for Whirlpool). Received it very fast. Looked at a video to make sure of proper way to install (didn't want to break the tabs that broke in the first place). Took no time at all. Very pleased.

Ordered the control bracket and ice dispense guide on line. I put in the model number of the refrigerator and all the parts were displayed. The greatest value of the website is the video install module that applies to each part. Walks you through the entire install process. Awesome!

Watched the youtube provided.

I ordered two (one for the repair and one to keep on hand) new ice dispenser guides from AppliancePartsPros.com and they arrived in one day. Installing the new ice dispenser guide was relatively easy and straightforward. However, just to be completely certain I did it correctly, I viewed the AppliancePartsPros.com how-to video on YouTube. Their videos are very informative and to-the-point.
