How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008640 / WP35-2044 Lid Hinge

Followed the instructions on the repair video. 

Found a Youtube video that documented the entire procedure. Ordered both the pin and hinge from AppliancePartsPros. Got them in less than a week. Popped the top off the washer, used a star bit to remove both the pins and hinges and replaced them without issue. Whole process took maybe 15 minutes. 

Watched the "how to" video and it was a snap to make the repair. 

The washer was a simple fix just replaced the two hinges on top of washer. The video was very helpful as step by step. The dryer was a blown fuse and one of the comments was that something had to cause fuse to blow like a clogged vent. That was the problem, but the clog was in the inside of wall vent and had to open up drywall to get to pipe elbow that was disconnected and blowing hot exhaust air in between wall. I found it by watching the vent door on outside which never opened up when dryer was running. Replaced the pipe elbow and fuse on dryer, and replaced drywall. Everything working fine now. 

Ordered female part of hinge assuming that was all that was needed, but the male part was broken in the female part of the hinge which meant both had to be replaced at the same time. Once all four parts were here it went fast. The problem was probably caused by painters standing on the door breaking the pin. Warned homeowner to not put anything more than a few pounds of clothes on the washer door. 

Replaced both hinges 

Two screws to remove hinges then replaced with new hinges. 15 minutes to complete. 

I ordered the parts an decided to replace both sides at the same time even though only one side broke. Used a putty knife and a screwdriver. Easy 5 min job. 

Watched your video and it was a breeze. It was easy to take it apart with your video.
