How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6026347 / W10873791 Ice Maker Assembly

I have the Kenmore 106.51132213 side by side refrigerator with in door icemaker. The housing for the ice maker broke, allowing the motor to turn the tray too far and snap some internal components. I ordered this part, and was able to very easily switch it out using nothing but a #2 Philips head screwdriver and a socket set with the 7mm socket and the 3in extender. After replacing the unit and all the housing/connections were back in place, I kept the ice maker in the off position and unplugged the refrigerator for 5 minutes. After that, I plugged it back in, turned the ice maker back on, and waited. Hoping to get ice flowing again soon!

The ice maker in our Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer began making a very loud pop when it dumped the ice. Then a few weeks later we noticed broken pieces of plastic in the ice bucket. Upon investigation, we noticed the sensor on the bottom of the ice tray had broken off and there were pieces of the tray that had broken off. We entered the model number in the AppliancePartsPros.com search and the whole assembly was available. We received it two days after we ordered it. I read internet troubleshooting articles, which said most likely cause was broken plastic gears in ice maker motor assembly causing ice maker to jam up and not rotate ice cube tray. I purchased new ice maker assembly per my refrigerator parts list. It arrived in 2 days. Very easy removal and replacement (6 screws and 2 electrical connectors). Ice maker is working again making ice within a couple of hours. Opened old broken ice maker assembly motor and found broken gears just as article said. 

Replaced the Ice Maker and all is well. 

Ordered part per appliance repair suggestion. I installed the ice maker in 35 minutes and ice is making like old times. Thanks 

Replaced icemaker. At first it didn't work, then I unplugged it for 30 minutes and then voila, it's making the ice again! 

Took it apart to make sure I was ordering the correct part because there were not any You tube videos for my refrigerator. Easy 4 screws then 2 screws a couple connectors and done, Thank You for the fast shipping! 

Long story short, I bought cheaper after market parts to fix my dishwasher and it did not work. So I got on here and bought the genuine parts and it fixed the problem immediately. So save money and time and buy the genuine parts to begin with. Great service and I received the parts within two days.
