How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3130817 / 676413 Latch Kit

The comprehensive web site and video(s) so helped with the project of doing the preventive maintenance of our dishwasher. The DW had not been functioning as we felt it should have been. We had diagnosed some potential issues with the unit. We got on the ApplianceParts.com site. The site was so very easy to navigate plus finding the how to video clips made the job go super smooth. OH! The shipping was ridiculously fast! WE ordered parts and they arrived the very next day. Holy Cow! The prices for the parts ordered were quite fair as was the shipping and handling fee. 

I ordered the part on your website after reviewing the manual I have for the dishwasher- my husband took 10 minutes to install it and it cost us almost 10 dollars as opposed to the 148 the appliance company wanted to charge us. 

Order parts 

Bought the latch kit and replaced both components. There are two pieces, one long piece and a small snap piece. 1. First, pull out the broken door latch component located at the bottom of the soap dispenser. 2. Take out all the screws holding the inner dishwasher door panel. Once the screws are all out, this panel could be flipped over to reveal the "under" side. 3. There's a rectangle plastic cover protecting the soap dispenser door opening mechanism on the 'under" side of the dishwasher's inner door panel, just slide it out so you can reach in to remove the other broken door latch component. 4. The long piece from the latch kit fits in directly from the soap dispenser side and snaps right into the shorter receptacle piece that has to be placed in the "under" side of the inner dishwasher door panel. 5. Replace the rectangle plastic protecting cover 6. Put all the screws back. 7. Done. 

I followed your videos on how to fix it. I am not a fix-it kind of lady but it worked wonderfully. Except the detergent door not opening up. Not sure why but I am still happy, I can throw the detergent pod in the bottom of the dishwasher. 

Using the repair videos from Appliance Parts Pros, it was really easy to do. 

First I spent almost $97.00 for Sears to come and order a $6.50 spring but not return to install it and $80.00 for a local service man to install the spring. The release worked one time after that. I found your website and watched one of your repaire videos and got the number if a repair and service manual that you did not stock. I ordered the parts from you and located a repair manual online. Thanks to your video and the manual it took me about 15 minutes to repair the dishwasher abd it has been working perfectly for the past several days. Your website is now bookmarked. 

Installed replacement latch kit, cleaned out old soap residue. Watched a video on your website that pointed out the dish basket could interfere with the soap dispenser if not installed correct. Found my basket was installed backwards. Test ok now. 

Pulled out the old latch and pushed in the new. Took only 30 seconds 

Ordered the correct part and watched the video on replacing the latch assembly. Very helpful and saved over $150.00.
