How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023438 / WPW10619844 Lid Lock Assembly

Pulled out old lid lock,wasn't to difficult 

Removed and replaced Lid Latch assembly. Washer has no further issues! 

I read through the issues related to my problems. I purchased both parts so if one was fixed then the other still needed to be fixed I would have the part. I watched both videos for replacing the parts which made things so much easier. I will say prying in the front clips was the biggest issue out of the whole repair. I repaired the suspension issue by replacing the 4 rods. The very last rod that I replaced was indeed bent. I closed the top and ran one load and then the lid lock issues resumed. I then replaced the lid lock part. I now have a washer that works. Appliance Part will be the first place I return for parts and assistance with appliance issues. Awesome site and money saver. I was stunned and amazed that the directions we watched on you tube were spot on. It was a repair that I was able to do myself. I only needed to replace the latch and that fixed the problem, your tech was knowledgeable and the products came right away, thank you for saving me a costly repair bill. 

Replaced the lid lock 

This code meant I had a faulty latch lock. I ordered the part and the install went relatively smooth. The only issue I had was when removing the lid, pressing on the latch pins with a putty knife was not enough to release the top. On the right and left hand side, about 2 inches from the front there are hooks that prevent the top from lifting. The whole top has to be slid forward about 1/2” for it to release. In order to do this I had to loosen the green brackets on the back of the washer. Once it released it’s a good idea to put the screw back in the green bracket because that is how it hinges when flipped up. Install took 1 hour. If I had to do it again it would be about 20 minutes. 

Ordered the part from you guys. Perfect replacement! Watched your video to familiarize myself with the steps to follow and it was very informative EXCEPT! In your video you show that the lid of the washer lifts up to access the part. My washer's lid DID not lift up! Instead of the "screws" mentioned on the corners, this one has a "hook" on each corner. It is necessary to remove the braces on the back where yours has hinges.This is necessary so you can slide the lid forward and unhook the corners. Almost tore the lid off before I realized there were hooks! Then lift the lid up and away! Once I did that, it took about 10 minutes to replace and have the washer back in service. 

Followed the video step by step. Worked great. The most difficult part was opening the washer lid. I needed to use a crow bar (use with caution) vs. screw driver. 

We ordered the new part and replaced it in about 45 minutes it was working again. 

Our son pulled to open the washing machine, before the lid-latch released, breaking the lock mechanism. Once we received the replacement part from AppliancePartsPros.com, the unit was replaced within a half an hour. It was quite simple to remove and replace after watching a quick video on youTube. Much more satisfied than if we had to call an appliance repair technician!
