How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008072 / WP3355806 Lid Switch Kit

Replaced myself 

Put in new door switch in lid. 

This is a relatively easy fix. Remove the top cover from the washing machine to access the lid switch. Remove the two screws holding the lid switch to the cover. Disconnect the electrical connector. Of courses always disconnected power before you begin. 

I removed the washing machine lid from my stackable unit, disconnected the broken lid switch, and installed the new switch. The lid switch is connected at three points (plug, ground wire, and where the unit is screwed into the lid). I'm not terribly handy but as long as you don't lose any screws along the way it is a simple 30 minute fix. 

Replaced the lid switch. 

Purchase and replaced the lid switch. Easy to do on my Whirlpool LTE 5243DQ2 stacked washer/dryer combo. Only need access to back of machine to remove 2 small bolts, then remove 2 screws from front panel (at top of panel). This allows for removal of top of washing machine. 2 small screws hold the lid switch in place and are easily accessible. Only tools needed were a 1/4 drive socket set and a Phillips screwdriver. Took about 20 minutes, from start to finish to repair washer and it works fine now. . 

Replaced lid switch and pump. Works great now. 

Replaced lid switch on Washer 

Removed the lid and checked the washer pump to make sure was working. Diagnosed the lid switch was defective and replaced in a short amount of time.
