How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008663 / WP35-6780 Washer Drain Pump Assembly

Replaced the drain pump with new unit from APP. 

Machine was making a grinding metal noise when it went into spin cycle. After removing belt and manually spinning each pulley, I determined the noise was coming from the drain pump. Watched the video for instructions and removed. Ordered new one. It came in 2 days. Followed instructions backwards to reinstall powered up and done. Runs like new. Thanks AppliancePartsPros.com.. 

Ordered a new pump and belt on Monday. When I paid for it, estimated delivery was 1.7 days. So I figured Wednesday morning probably...Tuesday morning the doorbell rings and there are my parts! Amazing service, correct parts, and a fair price! I am a satisfied customer. 

Replaced water pump and belt. 

Replaced the drain pump. 

Looked up the symptoms on the AppliancePartsPros.com website and found what I believed to be the problem. Watched the great video on how to change it. Ordered the Drain Pump Assembly and it arrived by the end of the next day with standard shipping! Replaced it and the washer is fine. 

Unplugged washer, turned off water supplies and disconnected them. Tipped Washer onto the front. Removed cover plate in the lower left. Removed hoses, then belt. Unbolted pump. Installed new pump, connected hoses and remounted belt. Tipped washer back up and reconnected electrical, water hoses, and drain hose. 

Replaced the pump and belt. 

I replaced the pump and belt. Very easy job with the help of video. It fixed the problem however I decided I should have done the thrust bearing and snubber ring at the same time because of the machine's heavy use. I ordered those and will install them when I receive them. Thanks AppliancePartsPros.com 

Replace with a new pump ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com The pump still works, no leaking. But around the bearing, there is a stainless steel ring around the bearing gets loose and pops up, and grinding into the pump housing, makes a terrible noise. I think it's a flaw in the pump design. This is the second time I have had to replace the pump on this machine. Same problem with the pump bearing. It's the 2nd time for me, I have no problem putting in the new part with minimal tools. It fits perfectly.
