How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009844 / WP6-2022030 Washer Drain Pump

Removed washer front ( two screws ) Placed two 8" blocks under front feet of washer. Removed pump drive belt. Loosened two hose clamps and removed hoses from pump. Removed three ( 3 ) screws holding pump to washer with nut driver. Installed new pump and belt. Replace hoses on pump and tighten clamps. Remove blocks and wash one load to check for leaks. Replace front cover. total repait time including leak test cycle about one hour. ( EASY REPAIR) 

Replaced pump took maybe five minutes to do. took longer to slide out the washer and put it back when done. 

I'm not very mechanical, so troubleshooting the problem was the hardest part. I suspected the pump so I started there. With the pump removed, I could spin the drive pulley while looking into the intake side and could see the impeller was not turning. I started researching pumps on line for that washer, watched a video about replacing the belts, and decided to replace them at the same time. The hardest part of the repair was moving the washer out into the room so I could lay it on its back to access the belts and install the pump. I had put the washer on blocks to remove the pump and was working blind most of the time.The pump and belts I purchased from AppliancePartsPros.com was an exact fit and changing the belts was a snap. Very satisfied with the outcome of the repair. 

Replaced belts, pump ,& hose from drum. Also correctly adjusted belt tension. 

Previously replaced belts, then replaced the pump and hose from tub. Found I hadn't tensioned the pump correctly so the belts were floppy. Got that right but then found blockage in drain. Spent another couple of hours....two days in a row.....for the blockage to break up. So for a 15 minute replacement of parts and 2 days of heartache with a blockage, the original belt replacement probably was the solution! Replaced it 

Visited the Appliance Parts Pros website, learned the potential items that would cause the water to stop leaking, determined it was most likely the drain pump. Watched the 3 minute video how to replace the drain pump and realized how simply this project could be. Ordered the part, received an email with confirmation and tracking number. The drain pump was sitting at front door the next day compliments of FedEx. Installation took less than 20 minutes. My wife was very happy that her Maytag was back in operation! 

Received pump and washer pump and had the washer running in less than a hour. Thank you. 

New seal
