How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4135008 / D7824706Q Ice Maker

I cannot stress how easy this was! I didn’t want to call in for a service call and expose my home (had to limit exposure) to folks I don’t know, so I ordered the part, watched the video and then proceeded to install the new ice maker. I am a “handygal” and my husband decided to install it for me, or hear about it forever. I am confident that I could have done it! Up and making ice within 2 hours ??. One tip, search YouTube for videos about your model, it helps, Whole process took 30 minutes and I’m sure I saved well over $250.00?? Don’t be afraid, go for it! Replaced the Ice Maker with an Original Part from AppliancePartsPros. Waited a few hours and the new part started producing ice. 

After doing a lot of online searching and troubleshooting, I came to the conclusion that the actual icemaker was the issue. The icemaker was getting water, so I figured it was not an inlet valve. When I turned off the icemaker the water did not drip and freeze, so once again, I was lead to the replacement. I ordered the replacement, and after about a week, it arrived. Thanks to the amazing video that your company provides, the fix was pretty simple. It took a little longer because I was under the assumption that water would immediately flow to the machine. So I actually removed the maker and reinstalled it. Overnight it made its first batch of ice. 

Replaced ice maker with new one from Appliance Parts Pro along with freezer gasket. 

As in the past my first idea was to view Appliance Parts Pro step by step repair video. Once I had the confidence that I could perform the repair, I ordered the replacement ice maker from A.P.P.. It took me 10 minutes to install the new ice maker and it works perfectly. I estimate I saved $300 or more by avoiding an appliance repair company house call. I would never have attempted this repair nor would I have been able to do it without the aid of their video repair tutorial. 

Started by watching your DIY video on how to replace an ice maker. Ordered the part and the rest is history. We have ice! 

I first thought that either the refrigerator or the ice maker tray wasn't level since we moved it into our new house. I checked the level of both of them several times, but it didn't help. Then the ice auger broke, so I ordered a new one from Appliance Parts Pros. While changing it I noticed the ice maker tray was leaking from the bottom of the tray as it had a hole in it from corrosion. I then ordered a new one from Appliance Parts Pros and installed it after watching the video. It was very easy to install. Now it works just fine. 

Tried adjusting fill amount but realized the unit just needed to be replaced. Just watch the video and as long as you know which end of the screwdriver to use, it takes 5-7 minutes to switch out. Switching out the wire harness was about as complicated as it gets and all you do with that is unplug from the old one and plug into the new. If you want to make sure you keep the wires run properly, just snap a couple pictures with your phone before you take them off the old unit. Easy as pie. 

I looked up the make and model number at Appliance Parts Pros and ordered a new icemaker. When installed, the new icemaker worked correctly. 

Very simple repair. I am glad I watched your repair video, that erased any possible confusion. With that knowledge I was able to pull the old one and have the new on in in about 15 mins. A valuable bit of info was that the new unit would take several hours to start producing ice. After a couple of hours we were back in business. The new ice maker was a perfect replacement. A very pleasant repair experience.
