How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4070068 / 61004388 Ice Door Spring (Dispenser Chute)

Ordered the fountain repair kit and the spring. Replaced the flapper, striker, solenoid and spring as per the video on the website. Video perfectly described the repair process. Took me maybe 20 minutes. 

Video is super helpful. Took the covers off and unplugged everything, noticed the doorflap clip was broken on one side and the strike had come detached from the thing that moves it. Put in the new doorflap and re-attached the strike, re-attached the plugs and re-screwed everything easily. One note - we had to remove 15 screws and they were all different, so keep them organized for reassembly. 

With the parts I ordered from you the fix was easy. Take special note in the video in the replacement of the spring. That made it easy. Also I did not have to disconnect the electrical connections. Just rotate the chute assembly for access. 

Repair was super-easy following the appliancepartspros.com video! I followed it step-by-step and was done in less than 10 minutes! Saved at least $100 by not having an appliance repair person come in... not to mention a ton of time!

Refrigerator was 15 years old, so I decided to order the Ice Door Fountain Kit and replace all the related parts. The parts arrived within a couple days with EXCELLENT installation instructions. I was able to complete the entire repair project in less than 30 minutes without any problems whatsoever :-)!!.....PS: AppliancePartsPros.com also has the best prices compared to other parts suppliers on the Internet. 

Installing the new ice door was a breeze with the ice door fountain kit thanks to the video support from the web site. I would have taken the whole door apart if I didn't watch the video. The limit switch was also easy but I still had a problem because the pad was also worn and made the switch stick. I had to add a light spring behind the pad to make it work right. If I knew the real problem I would have bought the pad also. All in all I would defiantly recommend these guys to anyone looking to repair an appliance.

The ice door wasn't closing completely so ice would form on the ice maker and clog the chute. The video was great help. I lightly lubed the door solenoid plunger also to help smooth movement.
