How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012240 / WP8268540 Door Handle Spring

Replaced the door latch and handle. 

I ordered the door latch and started to replace it. When I removed the door switch it flew apart and I couldn't figure out how to put it back together. Lesson learned: be very careful when you remove the door switch. It's spring loaded. I ordered a new switch and spring here. The door switch was easy to install following the video on this site. The spring didn't fit onto the latch assembly as shown in the video. The attachment points weren't the same. I found an alternate way to make it work by attaching the spring to the attachment points on the center of the latch itself. 

I removed the area where the handle and electronics are located. This envolved removing 6 screws. The latch assembley came out very easy and watching the video on your site did help a lot and made repair very easy. I relplaced the handle and while I had it appart, I replaced the door actuator and spring. As stated, the repair video on your web site made the repair very easy. 

Thanks to appliance parts pros technical support. I was able to grab the right parts and the videos verified installation. Thank you. However, my model of Kitchenaid dishwasher needs to be added to your database correctly. It would find the correct part but not verify that it was correct. Support verified and I am very pleased. The 

Using the parts I ordered all (my) repairs went well. Everything works again as new. 

After spending most of the morning searching for the parts on the internet we found AppliancePartsPros website. After ordering the handle and spring for our kitchen aid dishwasher on Thursday we received the parts on the next Sunday. The website also included videos showing how to replace the parts. Great service. 

Replaced latch and springs 

First checked troubleshooting guide. Sounded like the switch so it was replaced. did not correct problem. Watched several u-tube video, call appliance Parts pros to find out the return procedure as I thought I may not need some of the parts I which ordered, the door latch bracket and actuator. When they arrived I removed the old parts from the machine and compared them to the new, I realized the door latch handle was broken and held together by the spring. returned latch and actuator, received handle and spring, installed works. 

Replaced handle, handle spring and switch. All parts ordered fit and worked perfectly!
