How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005728 / WP207166 Lid Check Switch

I started by researching the problem online. I came to the conclusion that it was the lid switch because sometimes when I slammed the lid down after the washer stopped, it would start again. I found a picture of my washer which included all its parts. My loving husband looked and found out that if he took a screwdriver and pecked on the lid switch, the washer would start up again. I ordered the lid check switch on a Friday and the part came on Monday. It took my husband about 5 minutes to install the new part. My washer is a Maytag and is 30+ years old. After shopping for new washers and unfortunately not finding one like my old one, I cannot tell you how happy I was to find the part I needed. Originally, my husband talked to a repair man and he charged $100.00 to come look at the problem but also added due to the age of my washer, he probably wouldn’t be able to find parts. A friend fixed it for me . He diagnosed the problem in a short time, Called your company, ordered the parts. And, after the parts arrived, it took approximately 30 minutes. Now my machines works. Very happy!

I found lid check swicht was bad and bought a new and also the timer 

Replaced micro switch on lid switch assembly. 

Using a meter followed the door circuit to determine the secondary lid switch was not working. Found your website with the exact part I needed. 

New belts, new pump and new lid sensor. 

My husband replaced the Lid Check Switch and the Door Switch. This was per another's customer's testimony on this site as to how he fixed the problem. Thank you. Replaced the lid switch and the lid check switch. The repair was relatively easy. On top of the control panel are 4 screws. The two inner screws hold the control panel in place. Remove the two inner screws and move the control panel forward. Midway to the right you will see both switches. Remove the old switches unplug the wiring install the new switches and reconnect the wiring. I photographed the wiring connections prior to removing the old switches.
