How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012617 / WP8300802 Range Oven Thermal Fuse Thermostat

I removed the back panel from the oven and jumpered around the thermal fuse. This allowed me to unlock the oven door and restore power to the control panel. So I ordered a new thermal fuse and replaced it. 

After consulting KitchenAid and local repairman, I beleved that the control panel would need to be replaced. Luckily I searched online and discovered that the most likely culprit was the thermostat. Ordered from appliance part pros at 3:58 p.m. with standard FedEx ground shipping BUT before 10 am the next morning, the part arrived (via ground). It was an easy replacement, even for someone with modest skills, remove the back panels, remove and replace thermostat with two wires and two screws.... hundreds of dollars were save! 

Extremely easy, since it is an electrical circuit part, step one unplug range, remove two panels from back of range to expose faulty TOD. unplug 2 wires and screws from old unit and replace with new, replace panels, plug range back in to electricity and DONE.

Reading posts from others who had the same issu with their stove, changing the thermostat seemd to be the fix. I purchased the part and installed it and the oven works fine. 

I tried to fix it myself. Then I had to call repairman, who couldn't come out for a week because we live so remote. He showed up on time (a week later) opened the door & showed me the un-resettable fuse that had activated. He said he's order one and be back in another week. I said NO thanks. I went on-line to ApplianceParts Pros.com. I found the part. The site said I'd have in in an average of 1.7 days. I'm thinking that average would increase because it's being delivered to me. They don't even deliver mail up here, so I wasn't expecting much. The part I ordered from AppliencepartsPros.com came 26 HOURS LATER!!!! It was the next day & it was here! WOW! I was very impressed. Thanks 

Replaced thermostat. Simple repair. Remove back of oven, about 15 small screws. Remove and replace thermostat, 2 screws and 2 plugin wire connections. Took about 30 minutes all together. Very easy. 

Installed new thermostat as suggested by others and it worked beautifully! It was easy to do too. Just pulled out the range from the wall; taking care to not crimp the gas line. Switched the gas valve to the off position and unplugged the unit from the wall outlet. Then I took off the back panel and quickly found the old thermostat. Replaced the thermostat, but before putting the panel back in place, I plugged in the unit and turned on the gas valve to make sure it worked. The oven door unlatched and the front touch panel turned on! It's working fine now! 

Replaced the fuse. 

Thermal fuse was located directly behind the stove. I took off a couple of metal panels and the fuse was right there. It's a gas stove and had lost all electricity to the main display board after running self clean cycle, I was still able to use the gas burners up top but the oven stayed locked and lost all power. I know the part says thermostat but if you read the description it's a thermal fuse. Easy fix and the part got me back in business.
