How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3115186 / 675813 Thermal Fuse

I have never worked on a dishwasher in my life. I took the control panel apart and saw that the thermal fuse wire was dark as if it had gotten hot. I went on several you tube video's and learned how to replace this part. I also read a few blogs and discovered that when the fuse goes out there is no power to the panel. I called appliance parts and was disappointed that they could not cross reference my fuse part number to the current replacement part. So I did further research and found the new replacement part number. I called appliance parts back and ordered the replacement fuse. In 2 days I received the part and replaced the fuse. The only tricky part was to get the old wire out of the clip with the paperclip. Had to get it just right to release that harness wire. Anyway my dishwasher is fixed and the whole procedure saved me at least a 100 bucks. Thanks to the Parts Pro's I am good to go. Please have your operators be equiped with cross refeernce charts for your parts that will help emenesly. 

I had the thermal fuse tested and came up bad. I ordered the thermal part from appliancepartspros.com and received it in two days. I install the new thermal fuse which took about 15 minutes and problem solved. great work from Meredith at appliancepartspros who told me what could be the problem at least where to start from. Thank you great customer service. 

My dishwasher quit mid-cycle and there were no lights on nor could I get them to turn on. This dishwasher is probably 15 years old so I thought I’d buy a new one. Then I saw the prices and was floored. I started researching and came across this site that had the customer stories matching mine, the part I needed right below the stories, and then a repair video to show the replacement process. It was great, I’m pleased, and my kids don’t have to hand wash the dishes anymore. 

After a bit of research I decided that the thermal fuse was likely the problem. I ordered the part which arrived a couple of days later and used the video to figure out how to replace the fuse. As soon as the new fuse was installed the lights came back and the dishwasher is working again. 

I researched the issue online and quickly found that this was one of several possible reasons for the failure. I called and spoke with an Appliance Parts Pros tech who helped me use a multi-meter to determine that the door switch was good, but the thermal fuse was bad. The part arrived very quickly (I think one day!) and I simply followed the instructions with the part, removing the old wiring and fuse and replacing it with the new. Once everything was re-assembled, it started right up! From research through completion, I probably spent 2 hrs. 

Went to appliancepartspros.com, put in problem, watched video, ordered part, put in part. Done. 

Read online at this site that it was probably a Thermal Fuse, ordered for about $34 including shipping and it arrived the next day. Was easy to install, took five minutes and my dishwasher is working perfectly. It is doing so well that I cancelled the special order dishwasher that I bought from Lowe's. $514 versus $34? Yes!!!!!!!! 

Ordered a thermal fuse and replaced in myself.BOOM!!!! It works! I am thankful it was not the main board and just the fuse. 

Watched your video on how to replace the thermal fuse. Video made it very simple and easy to change the thermal fuse. 

Checked first what may be cause Appliance Parts Pros gave me 4 different things that might be possible problem. With percentage of it being the problem. Thermal fuse was first thing by percentage that goes bad Looked at thermal fuse looked blown . Appliance Parts Pros had video to watch how to check thermal fuse with a multi tester so I can make sure it was bad. Also had video to remove it and install it. Very informative and geared for Diy.
