How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016537 / WPW10185972 Timer

Ordered a new timer and it started right away 

Took out 8 screws ( 6 back panel 2 timer) and unplugged 3 wires. Very easy 

Ordered a new timer. When it came in two days replaced the old one. 

Looked at you tube for the diagnostic process. I used the ohm meter to check the thermal fuse and all the dryer switches. All had continuiy! That pretty much left the dryer timer to be the problem. I liked that when I ordered the timer I could buy and try the part. When it as installed the dryer came back alive ?? and works great. Thank you!

Installed new switch 

I called Sears Parts outlet that is nearby. They did not have the part. I tried to order the part from Sears Parts on line. The delivery day was in June ( it is currently March 28th). They said "It's on backorder but we will ship it to you the day it comes in." I got online with Appliance Pros.com, I got the part at a lower cost and the shipping (regular shipping, not express or overnight) was half the price Sears wanted to charge, at only $6.99. Here is the best part, I got confirmation that my part shipped the same day I ordered it and it was scheduled for delivery the next day!!! FedEx delivered the next day as stated. I was going to buy a new dryer and even went shopping for one the day the dryer broke. When I got home and saw the confirmation of shipping email I changed the plans. It took me five minutes to fix the dryer and its working like a charm. I am done with Sears parts. I will only be ordering parts from Appliance Pros. One more thing, I ordered a control panel for my Whirlpool dishwasher from Sears. That took a week and a half to come in. My recommendation: Just stick with Appliance Pros, they have the parts you need and they exceed expectations getting it to you fast.
