Danny December 04, 2019 for Model Number red444ovq1 I have a roper dryer given to me it works only on some heat settings. I took the heating element and the sensors to an appliance place after I tested the element and those sensors or fuses with a vom meter. I wanted to have them double-check me. And they said all tested good. I just wanted to know for sure if that just leaves the timer which they said they could not check but sounded like the timer to them. Do I need a timer for sure?
1 Answer Danny, based on the information provided, as the rest of the components are testing good, the timer WPW10185972 would indeed be the likely cause as it is the last part in the circuit. The timer can be tested from terminal C to terminal A (with the power cord removed from the outlet) and should read continuity between the terminals when set to the beginning of each heating cycle. Dennis Hellbusch March 18, 2019 for Model Number AED4475TQ1 Dryer is heating but sometimes does not shut off by itself! When this happens the timer has not advanced to off. It will shut off by manually turning it to off. I'm thinking I need part # AP6016537 Thank You
1 Answer Dennis, The timer would be a possibility, if it advances and shuts off in a "timed dry" mode, then it's not likely a timer issue. First check the venting and vent hood, A restricted vent or vent hood will cause an air flow issue and the dryer wont heat properly, that in turn will not allow the timer to advance in an "auto Dry" cycle. You may als need to check the blower housing and the lint filter to make sure there's no build up inside the internal vent system. Read More...
Diana May 02, 2018 for Model Number EED4400WQ0 Hello, wondering if timer part# W10185972 is compatible with part# W10185970 for my dryer model. I am finding mixed answers when I try to find the right part.
1 Answer Diana, The part number that will be needed for this unit will be WPW10185970 and the timer WPW10185972 will not work for this unit. Read More...
Matt H December 02, 2017 for Model Number NED5100TQ1 Dryer will not start, only buzzer sounds, It is not the thermal cut off switch. Is this caused by the timer switch?
1 Answer Matt, If the buzzer is going off when you push the start button then this issue will most likely be caused by a faulty motor on the unit. Read More...

Sue April 21, 2017 for Model Number AED4475TQ1 My dryer started only heating sporadically. Than only in one setting. Now only blowing cool air. Took off the back cover and cleaned out any lint. Air flow seem good. Took all 4 parts in back off and had them tested, Works good. Tested the 220 plug, ok . What is wrong with this dryer. Do I have to replace timer? Is there something else to test? Help!
1 Answer Sue, There are 2 components other than the thermostats which would cause the heating element not to work. First is the motor and second the timer. The best option is to disconnect the power to the unit and access the heating element. Disconnect one wire that is going to the heating element, preferably the one on the thermostat side. Plug the unit back up and using a multimeter you will want to turn the dryer on and test for 120 vac at the terminal on the heater where the wire was disconnected. What this will do is eliminate the heater element itself and the motor. If there is 120 vac at this point then you know the heater is good and the motor is good because the other 120 vac coming through the thermostats is the timer side of the circuit. If there is not 120 vac at that point then you will want to test the other terminal on the heater and check for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be bad . Read More...
Connie July 28, 2016 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 When we moved one year ago, my dryer was roughed up and no longer heated properly. I replaced the internal bias thermostat, heating element, and a part called... direct connect hi limit. It's never heated well since. There are four settings on the control and one by one, the heat for each has gone out over the past year. The High Heat is the only one presently working and it does get hot, but I have to keep re-drying loads. The timer nor motor work for the air dry/fluff setting at all. Any idea what the problem could be. Thank you
1 Answer Connie, This issue sounds like it would be caused by a faulty temp switch causing this. Read More...
Joel May 15, 2016 for Model Number dryer Inglis Ied4400vq1 So dryer is not drying clothes fully on all cycles when we use one cyle it will not dry at all the other cycles we need to run it twice to dry full load. I have checked all 3 thermostats all show connectivity, no vent blockage, could it be the timer? or heater? please help. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Joel. You have a venting issue. Try running the dryer with the vent hooked up. If it dries the clothing properly, then the issue is the vent. Read More...
Robert R B February 22, 2016 for Model Number RED4440QV1 I started out with no heat. after all parts needed were replaced, I found the timer was bad too. I now have it working , but it now getting to hot. it blow both fuses. heat at vent opening is to hot . I clean out lint, new vent hose. The vent hose is so hot you can not hold it in you hand. please help thanks Robert
1 Answer Robert, This issue sounds like it could be a cycling thermostat on the blower housing that is not allowing the heater to cycle on and off. This thermostat should cycle the heater off at 155 degrees and the part number is WP3387134. Read More...
