Maytag model # MEDX655DW1. Timer would not advance on either auto dry or timed dry. Remove the back metal panel of the top control panel, exposing the wiring and the timer. Coming around to the front, use a plastic putty knife/spatula to pop free the brackets that hold the top panel to the dryer by pushing under the front side of the panel until they release. This takes some effort, they don't easily pop free. You can see a video of this here at the 2:09 mark (https://youtu.be/yXKt8bNO7W4) although this is the washer, but the idea is the same.Once free, you can lay the entire top panel forward for easier access to the dyer timer. After pulling out all the wires, squeeze the metal brackets at the top and bottom of the timer and pull it out. The wires are all unique, so mixing them up should not be a problem. Take a picture for reference just to make sure. All in all, took about 30 minutes to complete, and my dryer timer now advances on both auto and timed.
