The hardest part was getting the gas valve to turn. An old all metal one from the 1950s located in a narrow space that usually holds a drawer. Finally got it to turn using a crescent wrench on the metal part that turns and a pipe wrench to hold the valve still. Then it was smooth sailing except for stripping the wires on the short bit attached to the oven. Had no desire to pull the oven out of the wall, so made it happen. Actually we called Sears repair and they did a good job diagnosing and fixing the problem (Jacob). But they never supplied the part after more than a month, so we got the number from them and ordered it ourselves from you. We had already paid for it, so had them do the work. We would have fixed it ourself but could not figure out how to lift up the entire range top and videos we found were for a totally different stove top and we had no information how to get to the part to replace it. Take out three small screws in the front. Then the stove top lifts like a hood on car. Remove 2 screws per row of elements. Then remove the broken top. Install new top. Reverse the previous steps to finish. Read more
