Brian M Orlando , FL September 26, 2014 Appliance: Model FRIGIDAIRE ELECTROLUX FDB635RBQ0 Dishwasher: broken door spring This repair could have killed or maimed me -- really! Left door spring snapped. Online search, APP was only source with both door spring and linkage. Discovered link for APP repair-instruction video (not very well marked on parts page). This well-done video really helped build my confidence. Common sense told me to also replace unbroken spring and both linkages. Parts + shipping = $75 -- wow, that hurt. Surprised how fast the parts shipped & arrived by ground! This is going to be easy! Removed 2 Phillips-head screws holding the dishwasher, slid it out. Removed the broken spring. Decided to first replace the unbroken spring. Took hold of that spring with my hand to stretch it to unhook it. There was a very loud explosion as the spring hook broke and flew off; the stretched spring coils collapsed trapping the skin of my fingers between the coils. My fingers bled all over the place. No one home at the time, I wrapped folded paper towels around largest wound to help staunch the blood flow. I lost track in my mind how the springs were oriented and where they were hooked. Went back online; APP had a video showing how to replace the linkages which showed how the springs were mounted. Finished the job. Note ahead of time which holes the spring hooks are hooked. BIG LESSON LEARNED is safety first! Wear heavy gloves and safety goggles when tackling this repair. Come to think of it, the gentleman in the instruction videos wore gloves and safety glasses! Although the linkages are very expensive, replace both springs and linkages. After discovering that APP is open 24/7 with online and phone help, and APP has 2.1 million parts in stock, and APP is very efficient, then I understood why the parts are expensive. Yet APP prices aren't really out of line with other suppliers. Read More... 18 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Screwdrivers
Donna L Chicago , IL September 21, 2014 Dishwasher door springs broken Our dishwasher door opened too heavy, there was only one spring on one side since we owned it. This spring obviously was stretched out so I put the model number in a search and found this website and ordered the parts I needed. Very simple to install, now the door works perfect, I thought the parts were a bit expensive though. None the less cheaper than a new dishwasher!!!! Michael G Marlton , NJ February 06, 2016 Door was dropping with no resistance The repair was easy and took little experience. The video was very useful. Without watching I may have just order the spring and not the linkage. However upon further inspection discovered I needed both parts. I was really glad I ordered both items. I would have been frustrated if I had received the spring and tired to replace it, only to find that I also needed the linkage. I went with standard shipping and received my package within a day. It was like I received overnight without the extra charge. Excellent overall experience and I would recommend this site without hesitation. Thank You! Robert A Glendale , CA July 04, 2019 Appliance: Model FDB635RBSO Dishwasher door made loud pop and was heavy when opening. I did a little internet research and found the fix video at AppliancePartsPros. This gave me the confidence to attempt the repair. I took the advice to replace both springs and linkages because I didn't want to pull the dishwasher out again. The only thing I did differently from the video was to remove kickplate to lessen the possibility of scratching our floor. This was the second self repair of this dishwasher (broken door lock) that happened right before a holiday party.
