This heat shield is a sheet-metal protector that blocks and redirects oven or broiler heat to protect nearby components and cabinet surfaces. It helps prevent heat damage and keeps the oven's internal parts functioning safely. What it does:

• Shields wiring, insulation, and adjacent parts from direct broil/upper-oven heat
• Helps maintain proper airflow around oven components to reduce hot spots
• Reduces risk of heat-related component failure and discoloration of surrounding surfaces
• Commonly used behind the broil element or on the oven cavity wall where heat exposure is highest

• Disconnect power (or unplug) and shut off gas supply before servicing
• Wear gloves and eye protection; sheet metal edges can be sharp
• Remove oven racks and any panels indicated to access the shield
• Reinstall fasteners snugly; do not overtighten. Test oven function after reassembly
