To verify if you have a bad valve in the first place read on... I first pulled out the ice maker to remove all the frozen water including the inlet section which was a huge solid waterfall of ice. While it was out completely disconnected I cleaned/chipped out the freezer section ice puddle. I replaced the water inlet valve. The toughest part was closing off the feed line while I waited for the valve to be delivered. The needle valve used to install the feed line wouldn't close completely. I ended up fabricating a plug from some parts from the hardware store.
The mounting bracket on the new valve was completely different from the original, but it still mounted easily enough. The 1/4" plastic hose fitting was a different type from the original, but the hose fitted into it easily...

Pulled dishwasher from the cabinet and flipped onto its side. Easy access to sump and drain flapper valve that I also replaced. Rubber sump coming apart into soft pills & chunks and plugging spray arms. Better now but it's rediculous that GE would make components that dissolve this way.
