Ice flapper door stopped closing Lawrence D. • Holly Springs , NC • March 21, 2016
My refrigerator is 13 yrs old and began to build up frost in the ice cube shoot and the water tube began to freeze up over night. The flapper door was not closing completely. I simply removed the control panel by pulling up and out on the bottom edge, the edge is only about 1/8 inch thick, so don't reach in to far. You should be able to feel a small division line between the control panel and the refrigerator. No screw driver was needed to expose the 4 mounting screws of the inner dispenser...

This is the ice chute funnel that guides ice from the dispenser mechanism into your glass on the exterior of the refrigerator door. It channels crushed or cubed ice downward through the dispenser opening to prevent spillage. Replace this funnel if ice is scattering, jamming, or missing the glass during dispensing - often caused by cracks, warping, or a broken lever on the funnel assembly.

It took me about 10 minutes and everything is working well. Beats paying a repairman to come out on their schedule and do the same thing at, I am sure, a much higher...
