The evaporator fan had stopped working and caused the entire area around it to ice up. No air flow was getting from the freezer to the fridge. I replaced the damper control (it was rusted, not sure if it was workign or not) and the evaporator fan. It was a very quick repair once I diagnosed the problem. Replaced the motor, however not the easiest to do with the older refrigerators. First I had to remove the shelf that hold the ice bin. There is a small screw midway underneath the tray. Once removed the shelf is loose but still hard to remove. There is a side panel that is slotted andonce removed the shelf can then be removed, but not knowing that it is a very odd fitting unit.
