My brother in law had an ice maker on his fridge and it has an attachment on his icemaker that shuts it off before it overeflows. Ordered new compartment door and replaced it in about 2 minutes. Suggest that owners of similar refrigerators move the compartment one notch down on the door so when the compartment door is left open and the refrigerator door is closed the comp. door does not come into contact with the refrig. interior light housing. Water line coming out of inlet valve to ice maker was cracked. Removed the paperboard cover from the bottom of the back of the fridge, then unplugged the water line going from the inlet valve to the ice maker. Wasn't sure this new tube was going to work, because the original had an elbow on it. Fit just fine. Removed grille from front and disconnected other end of ice maker water line. After using the crushed ice feature on my KitchenAid French Door refrigerator, the ice maker wouldn't stop dispensing ice, crushed or cubed. I thought it had to do with the paddle switch being stuck or something else in the door, but all door components seemed to be working as intended. I ended up pulling the ice maker out and disconnecting the wires to the auger so that I could leave the refrigerator plugged in. We actually were able to determine that one of the freezer switches was bad and taped it down for about 3 days. The beeping stopped. Our fridge has two freezer switches and one fridge side switch. I ordered all three from these guys. They were cheaper than Whirlpool by about $20 for parts and about $15 for shipping. After watching numerous videos I was able to discern that the problem was with one of the following: the timer, the heater, or the thermostat. a short time check showed me that the timer was working so that narrowed it down to the other two. Not having the necessary tools to check those two I ordered both parts.
