Kenmore / Sears Microwave Fuse Or Sensor

• Won't start
• No heat
• not self-cleaning

Did some Google searches and most comments concerning this issue on LG stoves indicated the high temperature thermostat malfunctions when using the self cleaning function. This malfunction causes complete loss of power for the entire stove and locks the oven door. I read on line about other such ovens doing the same thing mine was doing, absolutely nothing! I even read stories of a major retailer telling customers to throw the microwave away. There's nothing you can do to fix it. After replacing a simple fuse that I ordered from you, the Advantium is as good as new. It took a grand total of 5 minutes to make the repair. Called AppliancePartsPros because of good experiencing diagnosing problem with a dishwasher repair. We definitely are modest income amateurs! Same excellent response to our questions. Three possible causes. Used easy search menu to fine replacement parts. Bought all three, knowing that if all not needed, the others could be returned (within 365 days) for refund. It is difficult (if not impossible) to remove the electronic switches from the hard plastic latches. I replaced all three switches and both the upper and lower latches I also replaced the main 20 amp ceramic fuse which blew out when the latch/switches failed. Read more

I attempted to diagnose the four thermostats/thermal switches in the microwave....two right behind the control panel, one on top of the cooking cabin, and one under a metal shroud above the magnetron. While checking continuity with a voltmeter, i questioned one of them behind the control panel and the one above the magnetron. GE Microwave/Convection Oven. Removed case (carefully). Tested in-line power cord fuse with multi-meter. Fuse was good. Noticed a scorch mark on a wire connected to the oven cavity thermal fuse. The fuse appeared to have been overheated from too much movement in it's mount. Removed part from unit and used number on the part to order a new one. Installed new part, re-assembled, and unit works fine. Read more

I checked for the reasons there was no power to the microwave. Then I talked with the technician at AppliancePartsPros who stated that it was most likely a blown or defective fuse. My LG microwave has two thermal fuses, a fuse assembly with two prongs and a short (1 inch) barrel type fuse. I replaced all of them after viewing YouTube videos and then reviewing the diagram for my microwave on the AppliancePartsPrps website. Replaced the Humidity sensor, Thermistor and door switches. I replaced these thinking the problem was one of the items but didn't want to trial and error one part at a time. Plus the cost was reasonable so if these didn't help I wasn't out a lot of money. I sense the door switch was the problem. Replaced all items and the microwave works great. Removed microwave from the built in cabinet (probably the hardest part) and took off top cover (screws on side and back). Had previously blown the power fuse 2 times in this microwave, so I checked the fuse first using an ohmmeter. This time fuse was good. Traced the power wires around to top side of microwave and saw the overheat "therm" switch. My daughter that she turned timer on but hit cook with nothing in the microwave. I was able to figure it was one of the four thermal cutoffs. It was obvious which one literally fried. Replaced that one worked like it was new. Took a lot of photos while dismantling and labeled the screws. Wasn't that hard just be careful of the capacitor Read more

Replace Thermostat on top of cavity. The thermostat is attached via 2 bending sheet metal tabs. Ours blew because the two wires connected to thermostat shorted, connectors melted. The short was caused by buildup of grease under thermal wire cover, shorting both leads. The unit is used heavily. This is the first thermostat to go.
