David M Springdale , PA July 13, 2014 Appliance: Model DPGT650GHWW Lg gas dryer would not heat and smelled like gas at times Unscrew the control panel from the back, remove the 2 screws that hold down the top section, slide it 2 inches toward the front so you can unhook the lid. Remove the 2 screws from the top of the front panel. Remove the 4 screws from the the front panel, where the door seals. unhook the switch from the front panel. The gas valve sits on the right bottom corner of the dryer. James M Harrison Township , MI February 20, 2016 Appliance: LG Dryer DLG5966G Dryer would heat up at first the flame would go out and never light again I tried replacing the sensors first. That didn't cure the problem. Decided to replace the gas valve. I had the dryer apart a few times so it didn't take long (15 minutes) to get the new valve in. It seemed to fix the problem. After I looked at the old valve and noticed the gas adjustment screw was backed out of the factory setting. I'm not sure that was the problem or not but the dryer works. Watched AppliancePartsPros.com on how to diagnose problems and tested each suspect component with a multimeter. Process of elimination, then found out it was the gas burner assembly that needed replacement. Watched another video on how to disassemble an LG dryer. I followed the detailed and clear steps. Replaced the bad part. Tested it and there was heat.....problem was solved. Saved some money which is a good thing.
