Tom B Perrysburg , OH October 12, 2015 Appliance: LG Dishwasher LDS4821BB Horrible smell from lg dishwasher This filter just captured all the junk in the bottom of my LG dishwasher. There is no cleaning or servicing this thing. You need to replace it. There is NO NEED to pull out the dishwasher. All can be done through the door. Remove the racks. Remove the rotating arm on the bottom (2 screws under the arm). Remove the single screw (on the bottom) holding the tube that goes up the back of the washer. The tube has two clips that need to be spread apart to get the tube completely out of the washer. Remove the 8 screws that go through the filter and lift out the filter. Beware there is a small squarish part on the bottom of the filter with a rubber flap valve. Note how this goes on to correctly reinstall the filter. Below this is the pump and there is a gasket there also which I replaced (cheap and easy). Clean, clean, clean the bottom area where the heater is and all removed parts. Cleaning took an hour in itself. Install the filter and reverse the process. Read More... 51 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Screwdrivers
Billly B Trinidad , CO January 02, 2016 Appliance: LG Dishwasher LDF9932ST The main reason for the repairs was the drain hose on the dishwasher was leaking due to cracking in half I remove the dishwasher laid it on it's backside, took off the bottom panel everything was easy to access. while I had the dishwasher out I just decided to replace the motor as well, I've noticed in the past the motor had been making some abnormal noises.Only reason I knew it was the motor making noise is because I own the same dishwasher, the repairs I just made were on my moms dishwasher, she's owns the same exact dishwasher as I do. After three years of owning my LG I had to replace the motor because it completely went out and it sounded like hers was doing the same. But as for why the drain hose cracked in half that's still a mystery... All in all it has been a decent dishwasher but for the price and the repairs that had to be made on both I won't be purchasing anymore LG dishwashers, but at least LG has made them easy to work on...!! I thank Appliance Parts Pros for offering these parts that were very reasonable priced, the availability, and the shipping options. I will definitely be using Appliance Parts Pros for all my appliance needs and I highly recommend them to anyone. Mark F San Carlos , CA February 02, 2020 Appliance: LG Dishwasher LDS4821ST Top spray arm not spinning in lg dishwasher I replaced the upper nozzle guide, nozzle shaft and upper spray arm. I also replaced the pump gasket for good measure. Top rack dishes had not been cleaning properly. I first removed the filter assembly to inspect the main pump from above. It was clogged but after cleaning and reassembly I observed that while middle and bottom spray arms were changing position, the upper spray arm was not. I confirmed that water was flowing through the upper spray arm by placing some empty yogurt pots on a baking tray on the top rack. The ones underneath the spray arm filled up. I tried cleaning the spray arm by removing it and flushing it with water but that didn't help. When spinning the upper arm by hand it tended to stop after a few turns so I wondered if the shaft had worn down and was creating too much friction for the nozzle to turn. So I ordered replacement upper nozzle guide, shaft and spray arm and tried them out. On the same order, I took the opportunity to replace the filter assembly (still a little clogged), the pump gasket (showing signs of wear) and some broken dish rack rollers. After replacing all those parts, the upper spray arm was back to working order. Roy M Beaumont , CA August 05, 2018 Appliance: Model LG LDS5040ST DISHWASHER Dishwasher was getting noisy and began popping every time the pump came on Replaced the circulation pump and related rubber gaskets, seal and the rubber check valve. Didn't realize how noisy the unit had become until after I replaced the pump. Now we don't even hear it when it's running! Was easy to replace with basic tools, just like the videos.
