This filter just captured all the junk in the bottom of my LG dishwasher. There is no cleaning or servicing this thing. You need to replace it. There is NO NEED to pull out the dishwasher. All can be done through the door. Remove the racks. Remove the rotating arm on the bottom (2 screws under the arm). Remove the single screw (on the bottom) holding the tube that goes up the back of the washer. The tube has two clips that need to be spread apart to get the tube completely out of the washer. Remove the 8 screws that go through the filter and lift out the filter. Beware there is a small squarish part on the bottom of the filter with a rubber flap valve. Note how this goes on to correctly reinstall the filter. Below this is the pump and there is a gasket there also which I replaced (cheap and easy). Clean, clean, clean the bottom area where the heater is and all removed parts. Cleaning took an hour in itself. Install the filter and reverse the process.
