David C Gaston , OR September 19, 2015 Appliance: Model LG WM0642HW I heard grinding then noticed lack of rotation in a 4 yr old lg front loader washer I looked on the internet for similar descriptions for similar models and found many angry reports. Most said that the rotor assembly was bad as the nut that held the rotor and other parts together had loosened and allowed slippage between steel and plastic splines. Yes, I know that sounds like trouble, but apparently not to LG when they designed it. Most buyers complained that the part was covered by warrantee but not the labor and labor had been quoted as $400 to $600 dollars. Time to buy new competitor washer. I removed the back of the washer, 1 minute with screwdriver, 4 screws on mine. I saw the loose nut that everyone spoke of and removed it with adjustable wrench. 1 minute. At this point the rotor assembly was removed with some even pulling and jiggling. In the middle of the rotator assembly was what was left of the ground up plastic/nylon splines. Easy to see what stopped the machine. I decided to assume, yes I know, that LG would require conformation of damage by a "proper" technician before paying for the damaged part. This meant a minimum of $90-$110 in my area just to show up and look at what I had already done, therefore to hold my costs down, I simply decided to order the apart for the best price and shipping time I could find. I paid approximately $55 for part and shipping on a Sunday night, internet. I expected, hoped, to receive part on Wednesday even though not promised by parts company. Part arrived middle of the day on Wednesday. I installed the rotor assembly by lining it up and sliding it on the shaft. I added a drop or two of Loctite on the shaft threads and replaced the nut and tightened it up. 5 minutes. Hooked up the water and electricity and started the machine. Worked totally normal. Replaced the back panel. 1 minute. Shoved machine back in place next to the dryer. 1 minute. Have been using for three days and machine working normal just like it had before damage. This appeared to me to be the least expensive way to get up and going again even though LG got off scottfree for their poor engineering. My LG Model Washer: WM0642HW About as easy as it can get. Have had washers that were harder to remove back panel than completely repair this one for this particular damage. Take the back panel of washer off and you will see a 12" - 14" diameter circle of the rotor assembly. This piece does not just fall off after removing holding nut as rotor is covered with magnets on its inside that tries to hold it onto the shaft. Just wiggle and pull and it will slide off. George B Miami , FL April 21, 2014 Appliance: LG Washer WM0642HW A five year old lg direct drive washing machine made a bad noise when the drum was being turned All my Internet queries pointed to the rear set of bearings being at fault, so I ordered them from you guys along with a bearing seal and the large rubber gasket that joins the two parts of the basket. Your step by step video was amazing and all was reassembled without a left-over part! When I started a test wash, I noticed that the Rotor Assembly SPLINE teeth were totally stripped, and were the source of the noise! I ordered the rotor, overnight delivery, and replaced it the next day! Probably the bearings didn't need replacing, but I learned a lot about how the appliance works, so diagnosing the real problem was easy. I am grateful for your online videos! Oh, putting the rubber baffle that seals the basket against the door can be tricky. Make sure you clean the lips well, and lubricate the rubber with soap, to slip it unto the two lips. The one that fits on the basket is harder than the outer one! The metal spring rings that secures each side are also hard to secure to the grooves!! John P Jenison , MI October 13, 2014 Bearings on lg tromm washer failed I found a Youtube video from AppliancePartsPros that explained how to replace the bearings. The video was excellent and allowed me to perform the service myself. It gave me a good idea of what tools I would need and how long it would take. The repair would've definitely been much more difficult without the video. The longest time was spent removing the old bearing collar as the inner part of the old bearing had totally disintegrated. I ordered the rotor assembly after initially ordering the replacement bearings. When I removed the rotor, I discovered several of the magnets had been damaged when the old bearing failed. We had a home appliance protection plan from one of utilities. I initially called them for service but they refused to do the repair as it would've taken too much time and cost too much for parts. I don't know where they were getting their parts from, but the parts from AppliancePartsPros were about a quarter of the cost of what the service company estimated. Needless to say, I cancelled the appliance protection plan. I've ordered parts for other appliances online but from now on, I'm ordering from AppliancePartsPros. Cedric G Houston , TX October 14, 2020 Appliance: Model LGW4070HWA It wouldn't turn over the cloths when starting the wash buzzing in the motor and showing an error code I went to You Tube and many other people had the same problem and they showed what was the problem and what to do to repair it. I've followed the instructions. We all pitched in and I ordered the part from you. Quite expensive too but it was worth it. Within 2 to 3 days, it was a quick delivery to my address which took me about 15 minutes to change out the part for the new one. Wham Bam! It's working. Boy, me and all family members were very happy of me to fix it. I was very satisfied with the fast delivery. Now we could finish all our piled up clothes with confidence and being much more careful washing loads.
