This was a Maytag DE312 actually a Whirlpool labeled as Maytag) and is 27 years old. Replaced motor, drive belt and drum rollers. One tricky part was the motor because the new motor comes with integral starter and it was necessary to cut off existing female spade connectors on some wires and crimp on new connectors. Saw a video on line. Looked fairly easy to replace, but there were quite a few steps. I followed the video step for step and had the motor out in less than an hour. I looked on the internet for similar descriptions for similar models and found many angry reports. Most said that the rotor assembly was bad as the nut that held the rotor and other parts together had loosened and allowed slippage between steel and plastic splines. Yes, I know that sounds like trouble, but apparently not to LG when they designed it. I've read several reports about how "easy and quick" it was to replace the motor. All I can say is, "nonsense". It wasn't as easy as others reported, but for someone with decent tool skills, it was a very doable home repair - just be prepared to spend some time on it. Replaced the motor. This unit requires that you take it apart from the front and the motor bracket comes out a a unit. Be careful when replacing it that the back of the idler arm is in the motor bracket properly, otherwise you will not be able to tension the belt. I also replaced the belt just as a precaution.
