Mcculloch Transmission, Brake & Clutch
Genuine Husqvarna part

Part Number: 530071893
This chain brake is made to connect above the drum of a chainsaw. It has a metal band that goes around the drum and a handguard that also connects to the brake. When the guard is pressed forward, the brake band tightens on the clutch drum, making the chain stop immediately.
The brake is pre-assembled and consists of both metal and plastic parts. The spring, brake band, and linkage are all metal, and the housing is plastic. A common chain brake problem is the brake band becoming worn out or damaged. This causes the brake to no longer stop the chain fast enough or at all. This can be incredibly dangerous, so it’s important to check the brake regularly.
Installing a new chain brake is straightforward with this genuine OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer. Just remove the clutch cover assembly, take off the old chain brake, and screw in the new kit. Be sure to wear gloves and let the engine cool completely before making repairs. Compatible with Craftsman, Poulan, and Poulan Pro chainsaws. Sold individually.

My Poulan pro chainsaw was overheating and locking up. Jeff E. • Twin Lake , MI • June 25, 2018
Took the side cover off, noticed the chain brake assembly was damaged from the heat. Also after removing the clip securing the clutch drum I couldn't remove it. Had to use my biggest flat head screwdriver to force the drum off. The inner bearing was shot and the outer rim was worn with a lip on the bottom, reason it wouldn't come off the clutch. Because the parts were so worn out disassembly was difficult, but the new parts went on quickly. Soon I was back in business and the saw is working...

A chainsaw clutch drum works by driving the chain along with the gear. The gear and clutch drum are engaged by the clutch when the engine’s speed picks up. The chainsaw clutch drum likely needs replacement when the chain isn’t turning.
This repair is easy to complete and can be accomplished with minimal tools. The hardest part of this repair might be the removal of the old chainsaw clutch drum in cases where they are misshaped or warped from damage from continual friction. Many will work well past the point when they should be replaced, so it is essential to monitor your chainsaw parts for noticeable signs of disrepair or inefficiency.
This chainsaw clutch drum is compatible with Craftsman and Poulan chainsaws. It is a high-quality genuine OEM clutch consisting of durable metal.

Genuine Husqvarna part

Part Number: 530057907
The clutch connects to the crankshaft of the chainsaw engine. The crankshaft turns the up and down motion of the pistols into a rotation, which turns the drum and makes the chain go around. As the inner drum of the clutch starts to wear out, it puts more and more pressure on the springs, causing them to break. So, without a properly functioning clutch, the engine will run, but the blade will not turn.
Replace the chainsaw clutch assembly using our genuine OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer. A socket wrench and a screwdriver will be needed. Start by removing the chain brake cover to gain access to the clutch. Remove the chain and bar and then bind the piston in place. From there, use a screwdriver to remove and replace the clutch. This part is compatible with Poulan or Craftsman brand products. Sold individually.

Genuine Husqvarna part

The clutch assembly is located in the clutch drum and connected to the drive shaft of the motor. This part is what allows the engine to idle without actually driving the cutter on lawn and garden equipment. The clutch is constantly engaged, so it can wear out over time and eventually need to be replaced. It may also become damaged in a direct impact or incident. If the clutch assembly fails, this could impact the ability of the engine to idle properly or even to remain running once it's started. This replacement part can offer an exact fit for compatible engines. This OEM clutch assembly is manufactured to high standards by Poulan and is designed to be compatible with various machines from Poulan, Weed Eater, Jonsered, and Husqvarna. The clutch assembly is a replacement part for various trimmers and pruners from the brands listed above. Replacing the clutch will require a wrench, screwdriver, pliers, and socket set. Be sure to cool the engine completely and wear gloves when doing repairs on lawn and garden equipment for safety.

The clutch drum assembly seen here from Husqvarna is an important part of machines such as trimmers and pruners. The purpose of the clutch drum is to engage the clutch to spin the flex shaft and the cutting head. The clutch drum assembly could need to be replaced for many reasons. One of the most common signs is when the trimmer head stops spinning when it encounters weeds, grass, etc. Other signs include having a drive shaft that will not engage or a clutch that won't engage the drum. Sometimes, the lining in the clutch drum could become stripped, so there will be no torque when it is used. Replacing the clutch drum assembly can be a complicated task and will require a range of tools. Owners will also need to empty the fuel from the machine before they replace the clutch drum. This authentic clutch drum assembly is an OEM part from Husqvarna. It is sold individually and works for certain models of string trimmer and pole pruner. Brands that are compatible in addition to models from Husqvarna include Craftsman, Weed Eater, Poulan, and Poulan Pro.
