This is a flanged lock nut. It’s designed to apply tension, typically on a joint that needs to have a certain amount of flex. As such, it’s mostly used on snowblower chutes and lawnmower handles. They can remain in place, but with a forgiving connection that can take a beating. The nut size is 3/8, with a thread size of 16. A lock nut will generally last for many years. However, the silicone ring inside will wear down if it’s frequently tightened and loosened. It needs to be replaced when it will no longer reliably remain in place. Generally, this begins as a symptom of slight slippage and worsens as time goes on. Thankfully, whether it’s being used on a snowblower or a lawnmower, this nut is generally straightforward to access. Simply unscrew the old nut, then screw the new nut on until it’s nice and tight. This is a throttle trigger assembly for a string trimmer. This part is used to engage the throttle cable, which opens the carburetor to add more of a mix of fuel and air into the combustion chamber. A new throttle trigger assembly will be needed if it is damaged in a way that prevents it from operating correctly. It could be broken by physical impact or could wear out with normal extended use. This is a genuine replacement screw designed for use in select MTD engines on lawn and garden equipment. Specifically, this is an anti-rotation screw, which is used to stop the drive shaft housing from turning inside of the main housing assembly. This screw is a small part that is subject to constant vibrations, pressure, and high temperatures. It can sometimes become worn or damaged as a result or even break off entirely, which would mean that the inner housing would no longer be held in place accordingly. If this screw is damaged or lost, it needs to be replaced with a genuine OEM replacement as soon as possible. This MTD anti-rotation screw is manufactured with high-quality materials and designed for use in select trimmers from MTD, RYOBI, Yard-Man, Troy-Bilt, Murray, Cub Cadet, Yard Machines, and Bolens.
