This temperature limiter safeguards the evaporator defrost heater by opening the circuit if temperatures rise too high. Replacing a failed limiter restores defrost safety and helps prevent frost buildup and inconsistent cooling performance.
- Protects the defrost circuit by cutting power to the evaporator heater when an over-temperature condition is detected
- An open/failed limiter prevents the heater from energizing, causing frost accumulation on the evaporator and warm refrigerator temps
- Designed to be installed in the original location and orientation for accurate temperature sensing
What's included: 1 temperature limiter for the evaporator heater circuit
- Disconnect power before servicing; evaporator fins and sheet metal are sharp—use cut-resistant gloves
- Access the evaporator compartment and note the limiter's original mounting and wire routing before removal
- Transfer any clips/insulation sleeves and reconnect wiring to the same terminals; do not bypass this safety device
- Reassemble, restore power, and monitor for normal defrost operation
