This is a micro switch that detects whether the microwave door is properly closed and latched. It is part of the safety interlock system that prevents the microwave from operating with the door open. Replace this switch if the microwave does not start when the door is shut, runs with the door open, blows a fuse when the door closes, or stops mid-cycle intermittently.

Microwave won't heat or makes loud buzzing noise? The diode regulates magnetron current flow. Simple repair—test with multimeter for continuity.
I have a multimeter so I was able to check the fuse per website recommendations and it was blown. However, the capacitor on the microwave was also original so I elected to replace the capacitor, fuse, and the ground protect diode. The repair was very simple (making sure the capacitor was discharged before replacing) and the microwave is now up and running again. Connects the turntable motor to the glass tray hub so it rotates during cooking. Replace this shaft coupler if it's cracked, worn, melted, or broken.
About 9 screws on bottom and 2 on the turntable. The most trouble I had was putting the bottom back on. Took about 15-20 min. Easy fix Read more

Microwave shuts off without beeping or won't power on? A failed thermostat often causes overheating shutdowns. This safety switch is moderately easy to replace.
Replace Thermostat on top of cavity. The thermostat is attached via 2 bending sheet metal tabs. Ours blew because the two wires connected to thermostat shorted, connectors melted. The short was caused by buildup of grease under thermal wire cover, shorting both leads. The unit is used heavily. This is the first thermostat to go.
