I found several "threads" on my google search which indicated that it might be caused by a non-functional condenser fan. I removed the back bottom panel and voila, the fan was not spinning even though the compressor was running and felt very hot. If I spun the blades, the fan would run, but as soon as the compressor shut off, it would not start up again without my help. The replacement part was easy to find at AppliancePartsPros.com. The water dispenser stopped working on my Sears Kenmore (Whirlpool) side-by-side refrigerator and after much research on the web I purchased the parts that commonly failed for this condition. I should have first taken the dispenser assembly apart but I didn't--it looked a little too intimidating to do twice. We actually were able to determine that one of the freezer switches was bad and taped it down for about 3 days. The beeping stopped. Our fridge has two freezer switches and one fridge side switch. I ordered all three from these guys. They were cheaper than Whirlpool by about $20 for parts and about $15 for shipping.
