Instructions are very dumb, but it's an easy fix.
Loosen all the nuts that hold the metal bars that hold the old gasket. (Loosen. Don't take them off!)
Pull off the old gasket.
Slip the new into place all the way around. Get the corners in position, middles can be loose.
Tighten the corners, then work the middles into place and tighten as you go.
Done.

Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. - Restores manual shutoff when you lift the arm

- Disconnect refrigerator power and turn off the water supply before servicing
