I first thought it was the auger in the ice container so I changed it and it was not the problem. I then talked to ApplianceParts customer service that it might be the yoke on the motor that turned the auger or even the motor itself even though it worked. I ordered the parts, the yoke was supposed to be able to be changed by itself but mind would not come off the motor shaft so I had to cut it off just to remove it from the unit so I had to change the motor anyway because of this. Watched a few of your well put together videos and could not afford a new Refrigerator right now because it was a built in so decided with the frost on the bottom of the freezer grill and the Refrigerator warming up decided to replace the Heater Element and Thermostat Defrost which took some time but so far so good lets hope that is all that is needed saved over 10,000.00 dollars for a new 48" built in for now! After shopping for a new Whirlpool Thin Twin Stack, Found appliance parts pros online and decided to take it apart to see if repair was a possibility. Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. I decided if one needed replacing I might as well both two--made sense to me. None were available locally so I ordered them on-line. Surprisingly they came sooner than I expected. I also found a video on the internet that clearly showed the procedure. The actual repairs took 15 minutes or less. We actually were able to determine that one of the freezer switches was bad and taped it down for about 3 days. The beeping stopped. Our fridge has two freezer switches and one fridge side switch. I ordered all three from these guys. They were cheaper than Whirlpool by about $20 for parts and about $15 for shipping.
