Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. Found start button was locking down, but no power for motor was coming out of time. Opened timer and found a contact was burned enough that it did not touch, bent and cleaned it, reassembled and dryer worked. So replace timer, took 2 days to get timer and 10 minutes to replace.

I saw videos on it possibly being the lid switch. I used 2 lead wires to bypass the lid switch, which indicated it was indeed the lid switch that was faulty.

Removed top cover, disconnected front connector, removed front panel, removed belt from idler pulley, removed washer drum and belt, replaced push clip, retaining clips, 2 support rollers and idler pulley. Reassembled in reverse order.
