Ice dispenser door not closing tightly; frost build up in ice chute; mold growing behind ice and water mechanism Terrance A. • Arleta , CA • March 21, 2017
The ice dispenser door was not closing tightly. As a result, there was frost build up in the ice chute, which also was allowing ambient air and temperature into the freezer compartment. Upon further inspection, there was black “schmutz” on the ice door, and the rubber ice funnel and deflector parts were deteriorating. Because the door was not closing tightly, I also assumed that the door-closing spring was week. The parts I ordered were: ice door assembly, ice funnel, ice deflector, spring and...

Replacing the valve assembly was just as easy as the video shows. I had an issue with the part I originally received due to damage in shipment. Contacted customer service whom were very professional. A replacement was shipped the same day and I received the part the next day.

Clogged drain tube Keith P. • Ivoryton , CT • March 03, 2017
Swapped it out for new tube. Take 5 minutes and zero effort. The drain tube will clog with mold. You can clean it out but the tube will clog again despite's you best efforts as the tube wall provide a great habitat. Ordered new tubes to facilitate swap-outs. This replacement part is an ice dispenser deflector, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. Ice dispenser deflectors are found inside of the ice-making assembly and are an important part of many freezers. The ice dispenser deflector allows the ice to come down from the tray into the dispensing area. A new ice dispenser deflector might be needed if the current one has become too brittle and has even cracked or broken. Be sure that the refrigerator is completely powered off before starting this repair. The user must have access to the ice maker assembly and will need common household tools like a screwdriver and pliers. The user might also need working gloves as some parts in and around the assembly have sharp edges or blades.Note that this part is sold individually. This ice dispenser deflector is sourced directly from the manufacturer and is a genuine OEM replacement part.

Icemaker would not stop making ice Henry T. • Huntersville , NC • November 23, 2014
Determined from the schematic on the inside of the cover of the icemaker that the likely problem was the "stop" micro switch.... Took the whole thing apart and confirmed the switch was defective.
Replaced it with a standard DPDT switch - for a temporary fix. Went on line to find replacement. Bought it from APP Parts Pros. replaced DPDT switch with micro.. all is well.... saved at least $150 by not having a repair person come to the house - felling good about this.....

Door fell off the refrigerator sure did! Linda B. • Kannapolis , NC • January 09, 2016
This is my parent's refrigerator but luckily my brother and I were both there when it happened. I found the manual and researched on the parts website to find the parts we needed. Dad, 88, wanted to call the appliance repairman but we convinced him to let us give it try. Two days later the parts arrived, my brother and sister-in-law fixed the door and Dad saved $100. He is happy and we thank you for the quick service!
