Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The bearing on the dryer drum wore out so bad the ball fell off   Thomas J. • Green Bay , WI • October 31, 2016

I replaced the ball and socket connection for the drum. After doing so, I realized that the belt had been stretched and the tension pulley was not putting enough tension on the belt to turn the drum. After ordering a new belt, extra screw that was lost while disassembling the dryer, and some high temperature lubricant for the drum ball and socket the dryer now runs as well as it did when it was new. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Changing oven from lp to natural gas   Kim G. • Prescott Valley , AZ • March 06, 2016

We bought a stove off Craigslist and didn't realize it was LP Gas until we got it home and my husband was hooking it up and the burners wouldn't light all the way around. My husband has been out of the gas company for over 10 years now and was a little rusty on what was happening. I jumped online and when I read that the possibility was because LP Gas, my husband said..."thats it." So we jumped online... on a Sunday and actually got a real person to chat with at AppliancePartsPros who told... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Cracked panel glass inner oven door   George P. • Red Bank , NJ • November 21, 2014

Opened oven door to the fully opened position. Pulled up the the lock located on both hinge supports and engaged it in the hook of the hinge levers. You may need to apply a little downward pressure on the door to pull the locks fully over the hooks. In addition, you may need to use a flat head screwdriver to "help" engage the hinge locks over the hook. Hold the door securely on both sides (not the door handle). Pulled the bottom of the door up and toward me to disengage the hinge supports.... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven door would not close tightly   Seth B. • Needham , MA • January 02, 2015

I bought replacement hinges and installed them myself. The hardest part of the job was the first part: to remove the oven door you have to lock the old hinges with small brackets, and one side did not want to lock--I had to use a hammer. The door was heavier than it looks, but the only challenge after that was the fact that the edges of the door parts were sharp. I probably should have worn gloves when handling them. You have to take the door apart to insert the new hinges, but it's just... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken clock/timer control board for oven   Matthew S. • Herndon , VA • July 13, 2014

It was easy to replace the old clock/timer control board with the new one. I followed these steps: 1. Remove the four control knobs. 2. Remove the four large plastic nuts under the control knobs. This holds down the entire faceplate. 3. Remove the four screws which secure the clock/timer control board and display. 4. Lift up the control board, and remove the multi-pin connector (needed to use a flathead screwdriver to pry open connector tabs). 5. Replace old control board with new control... Read more
