Checked the three door switches; used ohm meter to see if there was resistance or if a switch was bad. 2 out of 3 switches showed resistance with the ohm meter. The last one tested (of course the last one) NO (normally open) did not show resistance; I.e. the ohm meter reading did not change when the switch was depressed. • Won't start

I have a Jenn-Air microwave that didn't turn on and had no lights. It just stopped working completely. I unplugged the unit and had to remove the rear cover using a *security screw kit* that prevents people from opening the rear panel. Once opened, I removed the fuse and testing it with an OHM reader to determine that the fuse went bad. Main Fuse did not open, only fuse for high voltage section was opened. Prior to the fuse blowing a louder than normal hum was heard from microwave for 1-2 seconds prior. Easy fix is the high voltage capacitor, so first checked the voltage across the capacitor terminals to ensure capacitor was discharged. Typically should be reasonably discharged within 30sec-1min assuming drain resistor is still in place. Removed the high voltage cap, and checked the capacitance and did not get a reading.... The manufacture did not crimp the connectors down all the way so that every time the capacitor discharged the connector would arc on the sensor. When I took the cover off and noticed the damage the plastic had already turned to ash. Replaced the cutoff sensor with the one advised to me by Appliance Parts Pros and everything works as it should. I also soldered the connection this time just to be sure. Read more
