• Ice maker dispenses too much ice

I replaced the ice maker after replacing the ice try and before that the ice chute gasket. All easy fixes. However, I am still seeing some frost build-up leading me to believe that the issue is just a faulty design, which I have read other posts on. Just too much warm air gets in the ice maker because it is located in the refrigerator, plus warm air probably finds its way from the outside dispenser, up the chute into the ice maker. I noticed that the bottom of the plastic bucket was cracked even though it was less than two years old. I called Samsung and they wanted to charge me almost $200. Instead, I found the part at appliance parts pros for half that cost. Since I replaced the ice tray bucket assembly, my ice maker is working perfectly! Read more

Poped off plastics caseing inside the frigerator. Unscrewed 4 screws holding black fan inplace. Followed yellow wire to locate white sensor. Need to be careful not to break styrofoam, don't force it, it should seporate from plastic easy as long as the 4 screws are out. Swap it for the new one and button it back up. While I was in there I replaced the defrost sensor and the other sensor next to the heating rod. Also I know there is an issue with drain hole plugging up with ice so I extended the... Read more

I ordered the French door housing, the new piece has a solid raised curved part that enters the guide, and a new center hinge. I watched both repair videos shown on appliance parts Pro. It looked pretty simple, so I got my 2 screw drivers and unplugged the refrigerator and started. The hardest part was removing the upper and lower hinges. Replaced broken handle support bracket (part #AP5620448) and cap (part #AP5620751). Used a phillips head screwdriver and allen wrench. Pliers also came in very handy. If replacing cap and support bracket, be sure to install cap before support bracket, otherwise you'll have trouble installing the cap. I ended up not needing to replace the fixer handle (part #AP4372038), but I'll keep it around just in case. Read more

I took all the items out of the refrigerator. Removed the screws that hold the cover over the evaporator motor. Than for three hours used a hair drier to remove ice. The panel was frozen on if you pull on it it will break. Soaked up all the water removed the panel and took the fan blade off. That was difficult because it looks like a regular screw head however, you need to push in that which will cause it to release the blades and than push it onto the new motor. After having a refrigerator repairman come 2 x’s to fix and it kept icing up then calls to the refrigerator repair were going unanswered I decided I was going to fix it myself. I watched 2 YouTube videos and decided I could do that. I order all the parts to change everything that could possibly be causing this. Entire Samsung Ice Master is modular. Ordered the "ASSY CASE-FAN AUGER MOTO " part and replaced original...Removed ice basket. Removed Cover-Wire Harness by removing screw and unplugged both the modular icemaker and part mentioned above. Icemaker is removed by sliding forward and down. The "ASSY CASE-FAN AUGER MOTO" part at back of ice compartment is held in by plastic clip on bottom of compartment. No screws to remove...just lift up clip and slide forward. The start button had been tricky to use. You had to push it in just a certain way to get the dryer to start. Eventually it was non-responsive. All other controls worked and there was no error code displayed. The repair was to replace the whole control board which cost around $100. Heavy sigh.. Be sure to keep track of all your screws.
