The Power Nut Assembly is an OEM replacement part for GE trash compactors. It plays a vital role in properly securing the ram drive belt in place to transmit rotational power from the motor to the compacting ram.  

Causes of a bad power nut can include cracks, stripped threading, or a loose nut that fails to adequately tighten the belt. Over time, nuts can also wear out from repeated tensioning of belts during use.

Symptoms of a bad power nut include:

• The ram failing to extend fully or retract smoothly  
• Compaction being inefficient with items not compressing fully in the waste bin
• Premature wear of the belt from improper tensioning
