If this happens, the part will need to be replaced. First, put the equipment on a flat surface. Drain the fuel from the tool and disconnect the spark plug wire. Next, the starter will need to be removed from the tool to gain access to the rope guide. The rope guide and any other damaged components, such as the string and springs, can be removed from the tool before adding a replacement component.
