The Drum Drive Motor is an OEM part for Bosch washing machines. This motor powers the drive system that rotates the wash drum and tumbles clothes during cycles.

Causes can be normal wear and tear over time spent rotating heavy loads daily. Failure of motor windings from years of continuous use is also common.

Symptoms of a bad drum drive motor include:

  • The wash drum failing to turn or tumble clothes
  • Abnormally long cycle times
  • Strange noises coming from the motor area
  • The machine not advancing through cycles

This genuine OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau and select Kenmore models.

For Bosch Drum Drive Motor (Part Number: OEM8468127)

Lee for Model Number WFR2460 UC/04 (FD 8306)

A year ago the machine quit, and the Bosch serviceman took the back off, said it needed a new motor but none were available, and recommended that we replace the washer. I recently discovered that replacement motors were now available and removed the motor, planning on replacing it. But I cannot find anything wrong with it. Brushes are OK, bearings turn smoothly, winding resistance measurements look correct. Is there a way I can bench test it. I'm afraid I may end up replacing the wrong part.

1 Answer

Lee, unfortunately, there would not be a way to bench test the motor 00142197 as it is a 3-phase motor. However, the resistances should have measured 0.5-1.9 Ohms from pin 1 to pin 3, 0.7-2.1 Ohms from pin 2 to pin 3, 1.5-10 Ohms from pin 4 to pin 5, and 14-35 Ohms from pin 6 to pin 7. If the resistances measure good, the next step would be inspecting the wires for any pinched or broken sections. If the wires are good, the main control 00494093 would be the likely cause of failure.

Greg, This issue would be more of an issue of the motor control board than it would the motor of the unit.

Mikey, Unfortunately we would not have information on the RPM and amps of this motor. These motors are typically 120 vac motors.

Martin, Unfortunately the manufacturer does not offer the brushes on the motor as a separate part and the motor would need to be replaced.

Hello Edward, This can be the motor 00142197 since the model has a three phase motor. The motor can be ohmed out with a resistance meter. All three windings should be extremely close in their readings. They should also all three read open to ground. If this tests good, the control 00481304 is in question.
