Richard Lee November 17, 2016 for Model Number PRSG364GLS Recently refurbished and thoroughly cleaned a 1998 Thermador PRSG364GLS natural gas 4 burner range with grill, and oven/broiler. Everything worked fine for first few days except right rear (non-simmer) burner, which would produce gas but not spark. I could light it if I used another burner to generate a spark. Expected to troubleshoot and repair just that... then after using both simmer burners without any trouble one morning...turned unit off and was done. Came back and saw red indicator light on, even though all knobs set to off. Experimented and found now simmer burners won't deliver gas or spark at all. After experimenting a little more, with all knobs off, unit started making the regular clicking sound from simmer controller as if trying to generate sparks, but no sparking occurred. Now, with all knobs off, clicking sound will not stop and no sparks are generated and no gas flows to simmer burners, even if I reset circuit breaker and leave all knobs off. Non simmer burners will allow gas to flow, but no sparking occurs at any burner, where just a day ago, all would spark. Oven and grill still operate correctly. I suspect the spark module. Can you please offer some guidance? Will a failure at the spark module prevent the simmer burners from releasing gas?
1 Answer Richard, The spark module will not cause the unit to not allow gas flow but a bad potentiometer could cause the gas valve to not open on the simmer burners. For the constant clicking would suggest testing the spark switches on the burners. Read More...
Dakota June 22, 2016 for Model Number prg304us The two left simmer burners light fine but will not simmer, if i turn the knob down there is a loud click and the flame goes out. the burners only run on high... is this a simmer controller issue?
1 Answer Dakota, Yes the simmer control would be the most likely cause for the unit to not operate in the simmer setting. Read More...
Dwa June 20, 2016 for Model Number PCS486GLUS Hi. we have a thermador PCS486GLUS. The service rep says we need a new "gas simmer controller". The one in the unit now says "model no. SQ003-H. Which model number would replace that? I see two that look the same on your site: 1.Part Number: AP3672574 MFG Part Number: 00422882 and 2. Part Number: AP3872617 MFG Part Number: 00497234. And, here is a SERVICE BULLETIN I found from Thermador: http://www.relparts.com/www/189816.pdf Thank you, you all are always very helpful!
1 Answer DWA, The simmer control for your unit will be 00422882. Although you could use that one or the 00497234 which the only difference is that the 00497234 comes with both potentiometers as well as the simmer control. Read More...
Lyle K February 04, 2016 I have Thermador PCS366US range top. The left front XLO burner operates fine through the max down to min setting. However when you go to XLO it will operate fine for about 10 minutes then suddenly turn off and all the ignitors will start clicking until the knob is taken to off. Wait 20 or so minutes and it resets and operates fine until you go to XLO again where it repeats the above issue. Replaced potentiometer. Didn't help. Ordered new solenoid valve. Came with 1/4" compression fittings. Range top has 5/16" or 3/8" gas tubing. Thermador says rangetop is over 10 yrs old so they stopped manufacturing parts. Since solenoid valve does seem to operate open/close I put old solenoid back in. Now it does turn itself off after 20 or so minutes again. But, also, if you turn burner off before it turns itself off it will not relight until star burner cools off. Only component now to consider is simmer controller board. ???
1 Answer Lyle, You will want to check the orifice and make sure that it is not dirty. The other thing that would be the most likely cause would be a faulty burner valve that is closing prematurely when set to the simmer setting. Read More...
Rick November 07, 2015 for Model Number SGCS365RB Rear XLO burner has stopped working. No Gas. I can hear solinoid click and see spark. Reading suggests new simmer controller upgrade with pots but looking for validation before ordering and major project to service unit.
1 Answer Rick, With the unit sparking, the issue will not be the simmer control or potentiometers. The most likely cause will be a bad solenoid and if the solenoid is good then the burner valve would be the issue. Read More...
Double E April 28, 2015 for Model Number pcs364gdus My wife spilled a large pot of chicken soup on the two left XLO burners. I get not sparking and no gas. One of the potentiometers is crispy. what order should I be replacing parts to fix the problem?
1 Answer Hello Double E. First clean and make sure the burners are really dry. then go to the power source and work toward the igniter. Read More...
Vivian January 11, 2015 for Model Number Thermador PCS366US Trying to overhaul a partially functional 6 burner cooktop. So far have done the following: - replaced simmer controller module and potentiometers - replaced spark module - replaced an ignition switch Now have 4 regular burners working. However, the 2 XLO burners do not work. Burners spark if one of the regular burners is turned on, but neither XLO burner will spark or flow gas if turned on. Strange thing - after the new controller module was replaced, the red light (signifying a burner is on) stays lit continuously. Only goes out when cord is unplugged. Any ideas what to try next? I'm thinking the controller might be defective. Thanks for your help!
1 Answer Vivian, You will want to check voltage to the simmer control to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to it. Double check all the wiring to and from the simmer control and to the potentiometers and gas valves. It sounds like you are loosing voltage. Read More...
