Richard Lee for Model Number PRSG364GLS Recently refurbished and thoroughly cleaned a 1998 Thermador PRSG364GLS natural gas 4 burner range with grill, and oven/broiler. Everything worked fine for first few days except right rear (non-simmer) burner, which would produce gas but not spark. I could light it if I used another burner to generate a spark. Expected to troubleshoot and repair just that... then after using both simmer burners without any trouble one morning...turned unit off and was done. Came back and saw red indicator light on, even though all knobs set to off. Experimented and found now simmer burners won't deliver gas or spark at all. After experimenting a little more, with all knobs off, unit started making the regular clicking sound from simmer controller as if trying to generate sparks, but no sparking occurred. Now, with all knobs off, clicking sound will not stop and no sparks are generated and no gas flows to simmer burners, even if I reset circuit breaker and leave all knobs off. Non simmer burners will allow gas to flow, but no sparking occurs at any burner, where just a day ago, all would spark. Oven and grill still operate correctly. I suspect the spark module. Can you please offer some guidance? Will a failure at the spark module prevent the simmer burners from releasing gas?
Answer Richard, The spark module will not cause the unit to not allow gas flow but a bad potentiometer could cause the gas valve to not open on the simmer burners. For the constant clicking would suggest testing the spark switches on the burners. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, November 22, 2016
