For Bosch Simmer Control Kit (Part Number: OEM11617860)

1 Answer

Hello Frank, the potentiometers work with the simmer control, they do not work independently, also the simmer control has its internal electronic components sealed into the case with epoxy ,it is not considered to be repairable.

Frank, Unfortunately, there is no way to bypass the simmer control on the unit and it work properly.

Hello Frank, the manufacturer's design of the cooktop burners does not allow the burners that have the simmer feature to operate without the controller which is now no longer available.

Frank, The potentiometers are available and would be part number 00422748 but the simmer control has been discontinued by the manufacturer with no suitable replacement available.

Df for Model Number RDSS30

For my Thermador RDSS30, the front left XL burner had been acting funny for a few years (gas would shut off when dial was turned between medium and medium high, but worked when on high/low/xl), and then quit working all together. Now the gas does not flow at all to that burner. All other burners work fine. It looks like the potentiometers are available for this model, but the simmer control for this model is no longer available. I opened it up and tested it by swapped the electronics with the back burner (which works fine), and neither worked in that case. Not sure if this is conclusive evidence either way, but want to know if I can just swap out the front potentiometer or if I need to hunt down an expensive simmer control unit as well.

Hello DF, likely the potentiometer is faulty however the manufacturer has subbed the part to a kit, 00497235, which includes the simmer control but the kit has been discontinued and is no longer available.i

Jimmy, The simmer control board should be located under the main top or at the top back of the unit.

Jeremy for Model Number PRSE304S

My Thermador PRSE304S has been working fine for many years, but suddenly has an issue on all four burners (two XLO and two non-XLO normal burners), where the gas will gradually go out over ~15 seconds and then the sparks will come back on. I need to wait a couple minutes before the gas comes back and the burners can light, but then they gradually go out again over ~15 seconds. All four burners spark fine when there is no flame, and stop sparking when the flame is present. The oven seems to work fine. I asked previously and was told that the simmer control module is failing. But the problem occurs on both the XLO burners and the non-XLO burners. If the simmer control module was the problem, I would expect the non-XLO to continue to function normally. Maybe something is wrong with the gas regulator, or some component shared by all burners? Or could a faulty simmer control module also affect the gas going to the non-XLO burners? Thanks.

Jeremy, This issue would most likely be caused by a pressure regulator issue and would need to replace the regulator which is part number 00754658. The reason for this is that the gas is slowing down and going out on any of the 4 burners. The only thing that would control that would be the pressure regulator.
